MUSIC LESSONS

All music lessons are available in group classes/workshops and/or private tuition formats. 

  • Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Recorder
    (Recommended min. age: Primary Year 4 - Recorder: Primary Year 2) 

  • Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Double Bass

         (Recommended min. age: Primary Year 5) 

  • Piano, Violin, Viola, ‘Cello, Classical Guitar

         (Recommended min. age: Primary Year 1) 


  • All students learn theory/musicianship, technical skills, singing, and rhythm training as well as undertaking development
    ​of solo and group performance skills. 

  • All of our registered teachers are highly qualified and experienced complete with WWCC & NCC (compliance checks). ​

SCHOLARSHIPS

  • These are offered by the Institute where students are experiencing financial hardship on Violin, ‘Cello, Viola or
    ​Double Bass.

  • Other scholarships are those offered by sponsors supporting high level performers on any instrument.



​    ‘GIFTED & TALENTED’ PRIMARY SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM


  • Conducted in conjunction with the Le Page Primary School’s Gifted & Talented Music Scholarship Program in Cheltenham, Victoria, Australia, the Australian Children’s Orchestra & Chorus program is available to primary school children on a full-time basis.

  • Entry is by audition. It is open to students who are performing well both academically and musically.   A copy of the student’s NAPLAN report is also required at the time of application.  Students receive in-depth training in music and Literacy and Numeracy.

  • 90% of the intake is students from Australia while 10% of the spaces are allocated to ‘gifted and talented’ overseas applications.  Such applications can be made at any time with entry being offered shortly after a successful audition.  

  • These students will have the opportunity to study a comprehensive music education program which includes composition, conducting, high level performance opportunities, a second study instrument, Keyboard Lab, recorder and high level singing in addition to Music History, Music Therapy.  Students undertake studies in core extension subjects (Literacy & Numeracy, LOTE and Art) during morning sessions leaving afternoons to focus on music subjects 5 days per week throughout the course of the year.
