Conducting

& Pedagogical Science

Postgraduate levels 

Online Assessment (via Jury)​

  • Candidates may conduct as Choral Directors, Orchestra or Band Conductors, or any mix if desired. 
  • The aim is to develop a high-level conducting repertoire. Candidates may add 5 works for each level or take on completely new works for each requirement.
  • YouTube recordings (private or public) are the preferred medium for conducting presentations (a mix of rehearsal and concerts is recommended). Candidates need to consider appropriate camera angles to clearly show conducting skills.   
  • Candidates may also conduct their own compositions and/or arrangements.  
  • A reasonable level of orchestra, band, or choir is required. 
  • Candidates need to demonstrate high-level direction and high-level rehearsal techniques.
  • Demonstrate high-level Leadership skills - see requirements for the Leadership Program and maintain an updated validated Curriculum Vitae as part of the prerequisites.   
  • Any style or genre may be applied to this Series.
  • This area covers various areas of study in isolation and in relation to each other. 


Licentiate In Music - Conducting & Pedagogical Science - LMus.(Cond & Ped.Sc.)

Pre-requisites: AMus (Performance) plus  ACPM (Leadership) & CV

Requirements: 5 high-level works & CPM


Candidates are required to develop a syllabus/curriculum for introducing conducting and leading at the Primary Series 


  • ​Teaching Syllabus: Develop a suitable Conducting syllabus for the entire Primary Series.
  • Teaching Methodology: Provide a paper on approaches utilized for the entire Primary Series.
  • Video Presentation: Provide explanations of how and why the syllabus and the methodology were developed demonstrating practice-specific approaches.  ​



Master of Music - Conducting & Pedagogical Science - MMus (Cond. & Ped.Sc.) 

Pre-requisite: LMus-Conducting plus CPM (Leadership) & CV

Requirements: 10 high-level works & FCPM



Fellowship in Music - Conducting & Pedagogical Science
Fellow - Masters International Institute (FMII)
 
Pre-requisite: (MMus-Conducting) plus  FCPM (Leadership) & CV

Requirements: 15 high-level works & MCD ​

  • Teaching Methodology: Provide a paper on approaches utilized for the entire Tertiary Series.
  • Video Presentation: Provide explanations of how and why the syllabus and the methodology were developed demonstrating practice-specific approaches.


Senior Fellowship in Music - Conducting & Pedagogical Science 
Senior Fellow - Masters International Institute (SFMII)  

Pre-requisite: (FMII-Conducting), MCD (Leadership) & CV

Requirements: 20 high-level works plus FMCD (Leadership) & CV


  • Teaching Syllabus: Candidates are to review the Conducting syllabus devised for the entire Primary & Secondary Series and make major or minor modifications that demonstrate high-level improvements and/or other ways to study the subject.
  • Teaching Methodology: Provide a paper giving consideration to the approaches utilized.
  • Video Presentation: Discuss how and why the syllabus and the methodology were modified and demonstrate practice-specific approaches. 


​Distinguished Senior Fellowship in Music - Conducting & Pedagogical Science 
Distinguished Senior Fellow - Masters International Institute (DSF-MII) 

Pre-requisite: (SFMII), FMCD  

Requirements: 25 high-level works plus MCGD (Leadership) & CV


  • Teaching Syllabus: Candidates are to review the Conducting syllabus devised for the entire Tertiary Series and make major or minor modifications that demonstrate high-level improvements and/or other ways to study the subject.
  • Teaching Methodology: Provide a paper giving consideration to the approaches utilized.
  • Video Presentation: Provide explanations of how and why the syllabus and methodology were developed and demonstrate practice-specific approaches.
